Tension Experiments · Forms–Illusions Series (2024) Employs ink and xuan paper as its primary medium, reexamining the multiple tensions inherent in the ink tradition. The works generate a paradox of viewing: from a distance, the images seem to evoke classical ink landscapes—as if mountains and rivers naturally emerge on the paper. Yet as the viewer approaches, the forms dissolve, leaving only the traces of ink, the textures of the surface, and the flowing breath of energy.
This oscillation between “presence and absence” provokes a reflection on the nature of representation. While exposing the mechanisms through which images come into being, it also opens deeper questions: How much of what we call “the real” is itself an illusion? What forces sustain the formation of illusion? And what distance truly separates the illusory from the real?
